The Military Academy is an educational and scientific-research institution. In accordance with the Law, it offers:

• Undergraduate studies for ARM officers for a duration of 4 years
• Postgraduate studies for professional training (specialisation) for command and staff duties for a duration of more than 1 year
• Postgraduate studies for scientific education (MA) for a duration of 2 years and doctoral studies (PhD).
• Professional training of officers for the services of the ARM for a duration of 1 year
• Courses and other forms of continuing education
• Scientific-research work for the needs of the defence forces
• Reserve officer training

The mission of the Military Academy is described in more detail in the Statute of the Military Academy. In addition to the above mentioned, the Military Academy also pursues the following activities:

• organises and conducts specialised courses and seminars and other forms of continuing professional and scientific development and training of military personnel and other individuals;
• organises and conducts scientific-research and applied work in the fields and disciplines that are performed at the Academy in order to improve the teaching process, the military sciences, techniques and the system of defence. It also prepares the teaching staff and takes care of their further education and training;
• co-operates with universities, companies, institutions and associations in the country and with military academies, educational and other organisations abroad in order to improve the teaching process and scientific-research work;
• publishes textbooks and other teaching aids, papers, scientific and professional monographs. It also evaluates projects, reports, studies and other documents and organises scientific and professional assemblies as set out by the law.
